Ceatis Consulting - What we do

CEATIS Consulting provides companies and organizations consulting services to help them apply for and receive grant funds, as well as provide training, consulting, evaluation and assessments when desired.

Within the targeted market in which CEATIS is currently operating, grant money is available to companies and organizations, but many businesses and institutions do not have the resources to successfully compete for these resources. By providing the necessary experience and expertise CEATIS is helping local companies to become more competitive when applying for federal, state and private grant opportunities and strives to foster a rebirth of the community.

Our Main Services

CEATIS Consulting serves our local businesses by helping them to identify a problem and/or an opportunity and seeking assistance in responding to these challenges. CEATIS’s menu of services includes assistance in developing, writing, and executing grants and contracts to support Human Services, Economic Development, Social Service Delivery, and Research and Development activities. Individual grants include, but are not limited to: SBIR Grants, Economic Development Grants, Service Grants, Workforce Development Grants and Human Services Grants.

CEATIS also provides customized consulting and related services: Technology, & Information Technology Consulting; Research Development Testing Evaluation & Commercialization, RDTE&C, Support & Services: Training Services; and Evaluation & Assessment Services. These projects are carried out by a combination of On-Site, Off-Site, and/or Remote interactions and they can be delivered the same way.

We work closely with local, regional, state and national organizations from Educational and Research Institutions, Government Agencies to Non-Profit and For-Profit Sectors to build solutions that are delivered by customized Teams and that are scalable to more complex national and international challenges.

During the last year CEATIS was able to develop its name as a positive “Brand Image” as a technology-driven “Leader in Building Regional & Corporate Innovation” for our region. This credibility was established amongst many of the most important individuals who have formal and informal influence in the local media and amongst key business, organizational, and political individuals and networks.

CEATIS Consulting - A short History

CEATIS Consulting LLC was founded in the Fall of 2005 by Dr. Allen Hunter as a Youngstown Business Incubator Client with the goal of helping to build the Innovation Ecology of the Greater Youngstown Region. Before entering the field of professional consulting Allen Hunter was full Professor of Chemistry at several Canadian and US Universities and can look back at a very successful career in the fields of organometallic, inorganic and organic chemistry. Regionally he is one of the the most prolific scientific individuals with well over a hundred scientific publications in peer reviewed journals. For the period from 1995 till 2004 he was listed as the 4th Most Prolific Publishing Individual in Science, Technology, and Medicine in the Youngstown Warren Metropolitan Area.

During his time as faculty Allen Hunter developed a recommendation as an extremely successful grant writer. He spearheaded his Department's efforts to acquire a well sorted mix of modern scientific instruments and equipment for research and teaching, and it was through his efforts that it is now one of the best equipped Chemistry Departments in the region and is counted as among the best Masters-Only schools in the country. His efforts in grant writing to scientific Foundations such as the National Science Foundation, The Department of Defense, The Ohio Board of Regents, The Fox Chase Cancer Institute, The Department of Energy, The Ohio Supercomputer Center, The Council of Undergraduate Research, and many others has led to awards worth well over $ 5 million.

Dr. Hunter's grant writing experience (and his success rate!) proved to be in very high demand outside the academic environment, and he has been repeatedly asked by members of the local business community in the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys to offer his advise and expertise. Prior to the founding of CEATIS Consulting there was no company in the area offering any writing or consulting services in the field of grant aplications (with the exception of the very limted services of the Regional Chamber of Commerce). Only very few companies had the resources or the expertise to apply for larger competitive write grants themselves. Realizing this and also that extending his efforts beyond the academic realm could not easily done by one single person Dr. Hunter decided to establish CEATIS consulting as full consulting company and was able to recruit the top talent in the region to join him in his efforts to build a new Innovation Ecology in the Greater Youngstown Region. As of the end of November 2006, CEATIS currently has a staff of 3 full time equivalents, (2 FTE and 3 PTE) with an average degree in excess of a MS, and further rapid expansion is expected within the next months.
